Is the National Seventh Emission Standard on the agenda?

Since the European Union announced the proposal of the seventh phase of European emissions standards, all kinds of speculation about national seven has hardly stopped. On December 7, the State Council issued the notice of the action plan for continuous improvement of air quality, which clearly stated that "research and formulate the next stage of motor vehicle emission standards". This move undoubtedly provided a reliable support for the formulation and introduction of the national seven. After all, the domestic emission standards have reached the national six stage, and the next stage is naturally national seven.

Looking back on China's motor vehicle emission standards, from the implementation of the first national standard in 2001 to the full implementation of the sixth national emission standard 6B stage, five changes and upgrades have been made in more than 20 years. Each upgrade is a challenge to the R & D strength of vehicle enterprises, but also caused the rise of vehicle owners' costs and the restriction of vehicle operation.

As we all know, China's vehicle emission standards have always followed the European system. I'm afraid the formulation plan of the national seven emission standards is also affected by the European seven to a certain extent. Let's take a look at the contents of Euro 7, which is called "air purifier".

Main contents of Euro 7:

1. Vehicle NOx emissions were reduced to 30 mg per kilometer, and carbon monoxide emissions were reduced to 100-300 mg. At the same time, it is clearly stated that all cars and trucks sold in the EU will achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2035.

2. For previously Unregulated Pollutants, such as nitrous oxide emitted by heavy-duty diesel vehicles, Euro 7 also limits the emission value, which to some extent puts forward higher and more complex requirements for the post processor of trucks.

3. It is required to include the iron filings generated by the friction between the brake pad and the brake drum or brake disc and the dust generated by the tires in the scope of pollutant limitation during vehicle braking.

4. Vehicles with euro 7 will be measured for a longer period of time until they reach 200000 km or 10 years of age.

5. Euro 7 will regulate the durability of battery packs installed on vehicles to reduce the demand for key raw materials required for the production of batteries.

6. Make full use of digital management to ensure that the vehicle emission standard will not be tampered with externally, and the authorities can measure the emissions of the whole life cycle of the vehicle through the sensors inside the vehicle, so as to control emissions more easily.

After the announcement of the euro 7 proposal, it is said that opposition has been rising one after another. France, Italy, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia even signed a joint document calling for the cancellation of the euro 7, saying that it is too radical or even unrealistic for car companies. In this case, Spain, as the current rotating presidency of the European Council, came forward and submitted a compromise draft, which was also approved by the European Council. It is said that the relevant content in the compromise draft is much less powerful than the original version.

It is still unknown whether China's national seventh will be as strict as the European seventh. After all, from the perspective of national conditions, China's power resources mainly rely on coal. If we blindly pursue replacing the fuel engine with electric motors, it is still uncertain how much less carbon dioxide can be produced by coal to obtain power resources than that emitted by the fuel engine itself. In addition, it is a great challenge for the country's power facilities and power generation facilities to replace fuel engines in large quantities in a short time.

It is worth mentioning that the upgrading of emission standards is an international trend, and it is expected that China's emission standards will continue to tighten. Although fuel vehicles are still the main force in the domestic long-distance transportation market, whether it is regulations, purchase preferences, road rights or consumption concepts, the market share of fuel vehicles has been nibbled bit by bit. When emission standards are tightened again, fuel vehicles will face the test of technological upgrading again, and the production cost of vehicles will rise significantly, which can only be borne by consumers in the end.

At present, the sales volume of diesel vehicles in the market has been declining. The comprehensive sales volume of pure electric and hybrid models has gradually exceeded that of diesel vehicles. Once the national seven emission standards are issued, the pre price, profit space and vehicle cost of fuel vehicles may lose their advantages, and the leading position of fuel vehicles may change.
