How should air suspension be maintained during daily use?

The suspension system is of great significance for the driving and safety performance of vehicles. As a suspension system that uses compressed air to support the weight of the vehicle body, air suspension has better shock absorption and adjustability compared to traditional steel plate suspension, high comfort, and greatly improves the protection of goods.

It must be admitted that air suspension does have incomparable advantages in many aspects, but in terms of strength, resistance to construction, and durability, it cannot compare with steel plate structure. If one is not careful, it may cause damage to the air suspension or affect its service life.

Generally speaking, the service life of air suspension is closely related to various factors, such as manufacturing process, product quality, usage environment, driving habits, etc. If the car owner can carry out relevant maintenance and repair work during use, it can greatly extend its service life. Precautions for daily maintenance of air suspension

1. Strictly control the working air pressure

In general, the design and use pressure of airbags is about one-third of the burst pressure, and they need to be controlled within the specified range during use. Whether the working pressure is too high or too low can lead to premature damage to the airbags.

2. Cannot exceed the usage range

During use, strictly refer to the usage stroke clearly indicated in the air suspension performance parameter table.

3. Keep dry and clean

Try to use the air suspension in a dry, cool, and ventilated environment;

Avoid exposing the air suspension to sunlight or coming into contact with items such as acids, alkalis, oils, organic lubricants, etc;

Clean frequently, especially when washing the car, pay attention to flushing the air suspension airbags and springs to reduce dust or pollutants on the top

4. Maintain good driving habits

Do not overload. Even on good roads such as expressways or first-class highway, the weight of overloaded goods should not exceed 10%;

Maintain a stable and uniform driving speed, develop a habit of anticipatory driving, and reduce situations of sudden acceleration and sudden braking;

When the road conditions are not good, slow down and avoid damaging the suspension components. Try not to walk on sandy and muddy roads. When it is necessary to walk, be sure to slow down to avoid flying sand and stones damaging the airbags or precision components inside the suspension.

5. Attention when parking vehicles

When parking a vehicle equipped with air suspension, ensure that the vehicle is stationary before applying the handbrake to prevent the airbag from rebounding;

Try to park the car on a stable road surface, and do not park it on rough roads or uneven areas in the front, back, left, and right. Otherwise, the force on the airbag is uneven, which can easily cause damage in the long run.

6. Daily inspection and regular maintenance

During regular maintenance, lift the vehicle to check the usage of the air spring and the remaining amount of desiccant, check for faults in the air pump, distribution valve, and pipeline interface. If there are no faults but a fault code is displayed, a dedicated computer should be used for comprehensive troubleshooting.

Suggestion for maintenance frequency of various components of air suspension (also refer to the air suspension manual used)

1. Airbag

It is recommended to conduct regular inspections, especially after experiencing muddy road conditions.

Check whether the airbag and piston are clean and aged, and whether the airbag base and top plate are deformed.

Check if there are any abnormalities on the surface of the airbag, such as surface cracks, wear, wrinkles, foreign objects, etc.

If the airbag is found to be damaged or leaking, it should be replaced immediately.

Check the fastening of the airbag connecting bolts. If there is any looseness, please tighten according to the torque.

2. Shock absorber

It is recommended to conduct quarterly maintenance.

Check the tightness of the upper and lower connections of the shock absorber, and use a torque wrench to check if the locking torque has been reached.

Check the sealing of the shock absorber. Slight oil leakage is a normal phenomenon, and if the oil leakage is severe, it should be replaced.

Check if the shock absorber is working properly. You can touch the surface of the shock absorber to see if it heats up after driving for a while (be careful not to burn your hands). If it heats up, it indicates that the shock absorber is working properly, otherwise it indicates that the shock absorber has failed.

3. Connecting bolts

It is recommended that after the new car has driven 1000 kilometers, check the U-bolts and the connecting bolts of the airbag roof and base, tighten them with a torque wrench, and then check them quarterly.

If looseness is found, the nuts can be alternately locked diagonally.

4. Height valve

It is recommended to check regularly.

Check whether the status of the relevant rods of the height valve is normal (two rods are in a vertical state under no load), and whether the connecting hinges of the rods are loose, and adjust and tighten them.

5. Axle lifting device

It is recommended to inspect every quarter.

Check the wear of the rubber buffer block on the lifting bracket, and replace it if it is severely worn.

Check if the bolts connecting the upper and lower parts of the airbag are loose, and use a wrench to lock them if there is any looseness.

6. Air pipeline system

It is recommended to inspect every quarter.

Check the airtightness of the valve body and pipeline interface, as well as whether the installation is tight and there are non-destructive rings. Soap water can be applied to the valve body and pipeline interface. If bubbles appear, it indicates air leakage.

Check whether the height valve adjustment rod is damaged and locked tightly.

7. FH value

Suggest testing every six months. Check whether the height value FH of the air suspension airbag meets the factory settings and adjust it to the factory state through the height valve.
